I flew this week from Northwest Arkansas to Tallahassee, FL through Atlanta, GA. and back so travel days are fresh on my mind.
I have a "travel day" mindset and rules. Go with the flow as things will happen and you will have delays so just expect them. Not only expect delays but plan for them by packing snacks, chargers and have something to read or do, people watching also works!
So I was surprised last Thursday when I found myself a little frustrated with security at XNA as 9 out 10 times they search me. I guess I had forgotten to turn on "my travel day attitude" I realized as I was buying my bottle of water that I had a choice to how I wanted the rest of the day to go as I currently was frustrated, so I choose to chill and go with the adventure as a dear friend was waiting to pick me up and I didn't want to ruin one moment with them being frustrated.
Flights were delayed, people brought on way to much stuff which delayed us as they then had to check it, but the flights made it and the people I had the chance to chat with were kind, some going on vacation, some going to attend graduations and some traveling for work. Once I changed my attitude I started seeing the interesting points that I would have missed!
I am not flying a lot this year considering all the countries I am going to see. I have to admit I am over the "awe" of flying as few if any airports or airlines have customer service anymore, but for oversees travel sometimes you have to board a flight and deal with all the fun. So in a few weeks I will put on "my travel day attitude" and board several flights to get to Rome to start my Italy adventure.
