Our last port of call for the 80 day Asia Pacific Cruise was Hawaii. Originally we were scheduled to spend a day in Honolulu and one in Maui but due to weather we skipped Maui and extended our stay in Honolulu. This was my second time to Honolulu and with this being toward the end of my 80 day cruise I choose to take it easy with no tours and to spend some time walking the down town area and finding Wi-Fi.
Hawaii is beautiful and it's a place that everyone should see at least once. It can be expensive but not unlike any other tropical island. I have found in both of my visits that the people are kind, the food is really good and there is an endless amount of things to do or you can opt to do nothing but stare at the ocean. Honolulu like so many other major cities in the world does have a large population of homeless so you just need to be aware as you would in any other city.
Highlights for me was that we ran across the Hawaii Five-o cast filming on the streets near the ship and my friend Lana was able to get a few shots. I toured China town in Honolulu with a new set of eyes since my recent visit to China and I was proud to have my sea legs as we hit 16 foot waves coming out of Honolulu for a few days heading toward San Diego.
