Traveler or Tourist?

Ciao from Sorrento, Italy! I arrived in Rome last Saturday, a day late due to delays at JFK-Kennedy. My luggage did not arrive with me but it all worked out. I was able to tour the Vatacin City on Saturday afternoon and then tour one of the city parks on Sunday while waiting for my luggage.

I have found that things happen for a reason. I was delayed a day getting to Rome which caused me some issues. I was delayed the next day for 1 1/2 hours leaving JFK and with my lost luggage I was delayed another 2 hours which caused my driver to leave. This all could create a bad day but I had my travel day (in this case days) attitude on and went with the flow and problem solved each piece. So here is what I realized when I landed, no luggage so in line to work with the Italian airline to find. While in line I met some very interesting ladies with great stories that I never would have known. Once through customs I realize no driver to pick me up due to my delays. So I ask a lady with one of the cruise lines and she hooked me up and saved me €20. The driver informed me there was currently a protest going on in Rome and we would have to be creative to get to my hotel. He also told me that their was a transportation strike on Friday with everything including the airport shut down. So had I arrived as planned on Friday I would have had a worst day than the one Iwas having, things happen for a reason!

Part of being a traveler is allowing those delays and change of plans to create new memories and contacts with others. Best advice if you want to enjoy travel is expect delays and challenges and then enjoy what is next!
