I meet up with a dear friend in Savanna, GA. on my way down to the Keys last week. It has been forever since I have been to this great southern town and so I thought it would be a nice break from the long drive and I am blessed to have friends that are always open for adventures. There is history everywhere in this town from the historical homes to the Spanish moss that seems to have a story of it's own to tell. Savanna is known as the "hostess city of the south" as it is the oldest city in Georgia.
The people of Savanna vary as you have some that their families go back generations and others who visited and decided to make it home. Be prepared in the summer months that there is not a lot of breeze and the humidity can be brutal but if you have the right attitude and prepare to deal with the heat you will find it a great city to wander around in. We took the old town trolley to get an idea of all the places we wanted to see and to get a reference point for all of the 22 squares that still exist out of the original 24. If you are a food lover this is the town for you whether it be seafood or southern style. We selected a restaurant on the river so I could enjoy the views and my friend could have seafood.
