I wrapped up my time in the Florida Keys week before last and made the drive up to Panama City Beach, FL.
I love the beach, being around and on the ocean, boats, lighthouses, sand, waves, the sound of the waves, count me in. I have traveled to the beach many times over the years but never was able to stay more than a week or two. So I added "extended beach time" to my life to do list for my 12 months of travel. I love that I am unpacked out of my car and that for the month of August I am in one place and have some sort of a routine.
My beach front home for the month is perfect. I can enjoy the days on the huge patio overlooking the gulf coast or enjoying front beach time with my toes in the white sands. My rental has all the luxuries of home and then some. I get to see the sunsets along with all the other activities of beach life. I can read all day (2 books down) or people watch which so far seems to be the most interesting to me. I am still amazed at how much stuff people haul to the beach and the effort they put into doing so.
My sister and her husband flew out yesterday but were able to come spend the first week with me to enjoy some down time. We had about 5 days of great weather and then 3 day of rain which doesn't matter when your at the beach. Had the chance to see a few storms over the gulf which for these okies was just perfect! As I type this we have had a beautiful sunny morning and now the thunder and clouds are rolling in, pretty perfect for me!
I am looking forward to enjoying this view everyday as I complete another of my life to do list items of extended beach time. If you have never been to Panama City Beach or any of the beaches along the emerald coast they are all worth the trip. The beaches are pure white sands and the blue and green emerald waters are always refreshing.
